{"id":14,"date":"2008-09-22T15:02:02","date_gmt":"2008-09-22T14:02:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.highpeakreview.co.uk\/wordpress\/?p=14"},"modified":"2022-06-05T13:50:10","modified_gmt":"2022-06-05T12:50:10","slug":"best-value-veg","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.highpeakreview.co.uk\/blog\/2008\/09\/22\/best-value-veg\/","title":{"rendered":"Best Value Veg"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>On Sunday, we went towards Manchester, and had a reasonable list of veggies we needed, we called into &#8220;the Indian Supermarket&#8221; (as we call it,) in Longsight and&nbsp;we purchased:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Box of good Tomatos (\u00a32.99)<\/li><li>Box of Red peppers (\u00a35.99)<\/li><li>Bunch of Coriander<\/li><li>A Butternut Squash<\/li><li>6 nice nectarines<\/li><li>1Kg Pack of dried fried Onions<\/li><li>bag of Chewra Mix (Bombay like stuff)<\/li><li>4 Green Peppers<\/li><li>2 Bulbs of Garlic<\/li><li>2 Red Onions<\/li><li>1 Cucumber<\/li><li>1 Galia Melon<\/li><li>5 Bananas<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>All for less than \u00a319, agreed the peppers are well ripe and strangely aren&#8217;t all the same size colour and completely unblemished, and they did not have the cardboard trays and plastic film that the supermarkets grow them in, but you know they seem to taste better despite that?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Serious recommendation, get out and try your local Asian or Chinese etc Supermarket, try some of those strange things like Mulfi, Okra, or some Goat (makes wonderful Curry) &#8211; people there will tell you how to prepare them if you ask.
